Fluor

Fluor is an international engineering consultancy working primarily for the mining, construction and civil sectors. They wanted their single level tenancy in the SGIO Atrium to sing a little song to their employees, visitors and clients. It had to be a song that you wouldn’t hear in other Fluor offices across this wide brown land though. Just a little ditty that murmured about their connections and chorussed loudly on local achievements.

Working with existing photographs and a conservative brief that insisted on strictly representational artworks that didn’t delve too deeply into the past Robert cooked up a treatment that married generally quite detailed background images with graphic negative silhouettes. The source material was relatively cliched. While acknowledging that the curation, recomposition and juxtaposition of images was executed with a dash of subversion.
